Dr. Philip Engelhardt

Dr. Engelhardt is an established veterinarian who has been in practice for over forty years. He had Bay Valley Animal Hospital built in 1979. He now primarily does relief work for Bay Valley Animal Hospital since selling the practice to his son and daughter-in-law.

Dr. Engelhardt and Nancy, his wife, are proud parents of their three children, Amy, Philip, and Paul.

He is a compassionate veterinarian who loves working with animals. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling to his cabin in the U.P., and spending time with his pets; Bentley, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and his Siamese cats.

Dr. Philip Engelhardt Jr.

Dr. Philip Engelhardt Jr. joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in 2016. He is a native of Bay City, Michigan and grew up watching his father practice veterinary medicine at the family practice. He earned a business degree at Northwood University and later attended veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing his clinics at Oregon State University. His special interests include internal medicine.

In his free time, Phil enjoys traveling with his wife, photography, horticulture, aquariums, and relaxing with the pets for movie night.

He has three cats, a Siamese cat named Jade, and two Bengals named Merlin and Sven, and a yellow lab named Oliver.

Dr. Elizabeth Hogen

Dr. Elizabeth Hogen joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in October 2015. She is from Northridge, CA and went to UC Santa Barbara for her undergraduate degree and worked as a vet tech all throughout college. Wanting to become a veterinarian since she was a child, she eventually attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine for vet school and completed her clinical year at Oregon State University. She has special interests in soft tissue surgery as well as medicine.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys traveling to new places with her husband, spending time with family and friends, baking delicious treats, going to the beach, and doing arts and crafts, such as painting.

Dr. Hogen’s pets include a Siamese cat named Jade, 2 Bengals named Merlin and Sven, and a yellow lab named Oliver.

Dr. T. Charles Catlin

Dr. Catlin joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in January 2019. Graduated from MSU School of Veterinary Medicine 2017. He is originally from the Metro Detroit area. He has special interest in cytology.

Chuck enjoys gardening, camping and hiking in his free time. He and his wife have a variety of pets, including a dog named Millie, two cats Noel and Lucy, and two ferrets.

Dr. Elizabeth Haiderer

Dr. Elizabeth Haiderer is a recent graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is working part-time at Bay Valley while completing a research degree at MSU. A native of Bay City, she worked at Bay Valley as an assistant while attending SVSU for her undergraduate degree.

Elizabeth enjoys reading fantasy novels and watching Star Trek. She also enjoys archery and kayaking. She resides in Haslett, Michigan, with her husband, Adam, and their two dogs, Shiloh and Riker (who also loves kayaking and swimming).

Jennifer Wells CVPM

Certified Veterinary Assistant and Certified Veterinary Practice Manager

Jennifer has been in veterinary medicine since 1994. She received her Certified Veterinary Assistant degree from Kirtland Community College in 1995. She started working as an assistant and a groomer. She owned a grooming salon. She started at Briarwood Veterinary Hospital in Grand Blanc in February 1999 as head kennel attendant, then moved up to a receptionist and veterinary assistant. She took over as Practice Manager in 2004.

She received her Veterinary Practice Manager Certification in 2010. She has been a Practice Manager/ Hospital Administrator for 15 years. She started here at Bay Valley Animal Hospital in October 2018 as the Hospital Administrator.

Jennifer K.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jen has been employed at Bay Valley Animal Hospital since 2002. She graduated from Baker College in 2004 with a degree in Veterinary Technology.

Jen loves all types of animals and has enjoyed owning dogs, cats, rabbits, small rodents, ducks, and hedgehogs. She especially enjoys obedience training with her dogs.

Kristen I.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kristen is a 2016 graduate from the Baker College of Flint Veterinary Technician Program. She is a native to the Bay area, loves all animals and is passionate about educating clients. Her favorite breed would be the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and son along with a pack of dogs within the family. She is very crafty and loves DIY projects.

Natalie M.

Veterinary Assistant

Natalie joined the Bay Valley Hospital team in September of 2019. She is currently attending Saginaw Valley State University to study biology and veterinary medicine.

She has 4 dogs, 4 cats, and a guinea pig. In her free time she enjoys gardening, baking, and watching TV shows with her Puggle named Slurpee.

Tina M.

Veterinary Assistant

Tina joined our team in mid-2019. She started in the veterinary field when she was 8 years old, volunteering/shadowing during the summertime for 8 years. In 2014, she became an assistant then continued her education at Siena Heights University where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry with a focus in pre-veterinary. Her goal is to become a veterinarian in the future.

In her free time, she enjoys playing sports, weight lifting, painting, and traveling. She loves spending time with her family and friends as well as her fur babies.

Tina has 1 Dalmatian and 3 shepherd-husky mixes, Sully, Simba, Nala, and Ferno, along with 2 handsome kitties, Smokey and Freddy.

Anna M.

Veterinary Assistant

Anna graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a bachelors, major in Biology, minor in Chemistry. She shadowed at Bay Valley Animal Hospital for 2 years before starting as a veterinary assistant and kennel attendant in 2018. She is now a full time veterinary assistant.

At home she enjoys reading and spending time with her 2 adorable pitbull mixes, Lucy and Nola. She likes spending her free time camping.

Kaylee D.

Veterinary Assistant

Kaylee joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in July of 2019. She has 2 dogs, Karma is a German Shephard and Monroe is a Mini Aussie.

In her free time, she enjoys competing in horse shows with her horses Bear and Dez. She also likes spending time with family and friends and going to country concerts.

Trista D.

Veterinary Assistant

Trista has been in the veterinary field for 4 years, starting as a receptionist, and is now a veterinarian technician assistant. She grew up with cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and even hermit crabs.

She enjoys reading, knitting, embroidery, spending time with her family, and playing with her Border Collie/Australian Shepherd puppy!

Joyce W.

Receptionist

Joyce started off as a LVT in Saginaw for 7 years after graduating from MSU. Joyce went on to work for DOW for 25 years as a toxicology laboratory animal technologist. Retired summer of 2018.

Joyce is now retired and finally back to her roots working with cats and dogs, which she loves!

Joyce is married with 3 adult daughters, 2 four-legged daughters (dogs) and 5 grand puppies and kitties.

In Joyce’s spare time she loves to read, and is actively involved with her church!

Stephanie O.

Kennel Manager

Stephanie joined the Bay Valley Animal Hospital in 2019. She managed a doggie daycare for 4 years and has worked as a groomer. She also is trained in dog behavior and obedience. She has worked with animals for 15 years and has volunteered/worked at a teaching farm with cows, goats, horses, peacocks.

She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts photography. She achieved her Fear Free Certification in March of 2021.

She is a proud mom to a son and has many furry kids. In her free time she enjoys playing video games, metalsmithing, and reading.

Kayti C.

Kennel Attendant

Kayti started at Bay Valley Animal Hospital in June of 2020. With over 10 years of experience in pet care and over 5 years of experience in dog training, behavior, and handling, she is very passionate about caring for and training animals. She grew up in Midland and moved to Bay City in 2018.

She likes spending her free time doing pet photography, painting pet portraits, making and creating DIY projects and home décor, and renovating her new home.

She has a rescue Siberian Husky, Elwood ‘Ellie’, and a Border Collie puppy named Eevee.
