Dr. Philip Engelhardt Jr.
Dr. Philip Engelhardt Jr. joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in 2016. He is a native of Bay City, Michigan and grew up watching his father practice veterinary medicine at the family practice. He earned a business degree at Northwood University and later attended veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing his clinics at Oregon State University. His special interests include internal medicine.
In his free time, Phil enjoys traveling with his wife, photography, horticulture, aquariums, and relaxing with the pets for movie night.
He has three cats, a Siamese cat named Jade, and two Bengals named Merlin and Sven, and a yellow lab named Oliver.
Dr. Elizabeth Hogen
Dr. Elizabeth Hogen joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in October 2015. She is from Northridge, CA and went to UC Santa Barbara for her undergraduate degree and worked as a vet tech all throughout college. Wanting to become a veterinarian since she was a child, she eventually attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine for vet school and completed her clinical year at Oregon State University. She has special interests in soft tissue surgery as well as medicine.
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys traveling to new places with her husband, spending time with family and friends, baking delicious treats, going to the beach, and doing arts and crafts, such as painting.
Dr. Hogen’s pets include a Siamese cat named Jade, 2 Bengals named Merlin and Sven, and a yellow lab named Oliver.
Dr. T. Charles Catlin
Dr. Catlin joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in January 2019. Graduated from MSU School of Veterinary Medicine 2017. He is originally from the Metro Detroit area. He has special interest in cytology.
Chuck enjoys gardening, camping and hiking in his free time. He and his wife have a variety of pets, including a dog named Millie, two cats Noel and Lucy, and two ferrets.
Dr. Elizabeth Haiderer
Dr. Elizabeth Haiderer is a recent graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is working part-time at Bay Valley while completing a research degree at MSU. A native of Bay City, she worked at Bay Valley as an assistant while attending SVSU for her undergraduate degree.
Elizabeth enjoys reading fantasy novels and watching Star Trek. She also enjoys archery and kayaking. She resides in Haslett, Michigan, with her husband, Adam, and their two dogs, Shiloh and Riker (who also loves kayaking and swimming).
Dr. Philip Engelhardt
Retired. He had Bay Valley Animal Hospital built in 1979. He will occasionally do relief work for Bay Valley Animal Hospital since selling the practice to his son and daughter-in-law.
Dr. Engelhardt and Nancy, his wife, are proud parents of their three children, Amy, Philip, and Paul. He is a compassionate veterinarian who loves working with animals. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling to his cabin in the U.P., and spending time with his pets; Bentley, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and his Siamese cats.
Amanda H. (Mandy)
Practice Manager / Hospital Administrator
Amanda joined our team as the Practice Manager and Hospital Administrator in 2024. She brings over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine and a deep passion for animal care. Originally from New Jersey, Amanda began her journey in the field as a veterinary assistant in 2012, where she quickly fell in love with the fast-paced, compassionate nature of veterinary medicine.
Over the years, Amanda transitioned into management, discovering a new passion for leadership and team development. She enjoys creating a supportive, efficient and compassionate work environment, fostering growth among team members, and ensuring that every patient and client experience compassionate, high-quality care and service. Amanda shares our commitment to treating pet parents, their beloved pets, and our team as if they were family.
Amanda lives with her fiancé, Tyler, and their two Australian Shepherds, Ava and Kora. She enjoys riding her motorcycle, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.
Kaylee D.
Assistant Manager
Kaylee joined Bay Valley Animal Hospital in July of 2019. She has 2 dogs, Karma is a German Shephard and Monroe is a Mini Aussie.
In her free time, she enjoys competing in horse shows with her horses Bear and Dez. She also likes spending time with family and friends and going to country concerts.
Jennifer K.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jen has been a dedicated and essential member of the Bay Valley Animal Hospital team since 2002. She earned her degree in Veterinary Technology from Baker College in 2004 and has since become a trusted leader in patient care and team support. With a calm, knowledgeable presence and a deep love for animals, Jen plays a vital role in both the medical and emotional well-being of the pets we care for.
Her passion for animals goes far beyond the walls of the hospital. Jen is highly active in obedience training and dock diving with her dogs, finding joy and connection through the strong bonds she builds with them.
Throughout her life, she has shared her home with a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, small rodents, ducks, and even hedgehogs. Her diverse experience and compassionate approach make her an incredible asset to our team and the families we serve.
Jen’s commitment to excellence, combined with her years of experience and love for animals, makes her an outstanding Lead Veterinary Technician and a true pillar of the Bay Valley Animal Hospital family.
Kristen I.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kristen is a 2016 graduate from the Baker College of Flint Veterinary Technician Program. She is a native to the Bay area, loves all animals and is passionate about educating clients. Her favorite breed would be the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and son along with a pack of dogs within the family. She is very crafty and loves DIY projects.
Tina M.
Veterinary Assistant
Tina joined our team in mid-2019. She started in the veterinary field when she was 8 years old, volunteering/shadowing during the summertime for 8 years. In 2014, she became an assistant then continued her education at Siena Heights University where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry with a focus in pre-veterinary. Her goal is to become a veterinarian in the future.
In her free time, she enjoys playing sports, weight lifting, painting, and traveling. She loves spending time with her family and friends as well as her fur babies.
Tina has 1 Dalmatian and 3 shepherd-husky mixes, Sully, Simba, Nala, and Ferno, along with 2 handsome kitties, Smokey and Freddy.
Anna M.
Veterinary Assistant
Anna is a compassionate and dedicated member of the Bay Valley Animal Hospital team, currently serving as a Senior Veterinary Assistant. She began her journey with us by shadowing for two years while pursuing her education, and officially joined the team in 2018 as a veterinary assistant and kennel attendant. Through her hard work and commitment to patient care, Anna has grown into a vital part of our medical team.
She graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Her passion for animals and science blends seamlessly in her role, where she brings knowledge, heart, and humor to everything she does. Anna is known for her warm, funny personality and the genuine compassion she shows to every patient and client she encounters.
At home, Anna shares her life with two dogs, Lucy and Kira, and a cat named Big Pep. She enjoys reading, camping, and spending time outdoors with her pets. Whether in the clinic or out in nature, Anna brings joy and positivity wherever she goes, making her an irreplaceable member of the Bay Valley team.
Olivia W.
Lead Client Service Representative
Olivia is the Lead Client Service Representative at Bay Valley Animal Hospital and has been a valued member of the team since 2021. As the friendly face that welcomes clients and their pets, she plays a key role in ensuring that every visit feels personal, professional, and compassionate.
She brings warmth, organization, and dedication to the front desk every day, making sure both clients and team members feel supported and informed. Her love for animals and people shines through in everything she does.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, painting, and spending time outdoors. She lives with her significant other, Jared, and their beautiful daughter. Her home is also filled with furry love thanks to her dog, Koba, and her cat, Kitty Boo. Her positive attitude and commitment to excellent service make her an integral part of the Bay Valley team.
